Canada has released SRSP-310.7 (Issue 5, October 2026), setting out the technical requirements for fixed line-of-sight radio systems operating in the 10.7–11.7 GHz frequency band. The standard applies to new installations and modifications to existing systems.

Key Technical Requirements:
  • Frequency Arrangements: Supports channel spacings of 10, 20, 30, 40, 60 and 80 MHz, with a common transmit/receive separation of 490 MHz.
  • Transmitter Power: Limited to 7.5 W for bandwidths up to 20 MHz and 10 W for bandwidths above 20 MHz and up to 80 MHz.
  • Frequency Stability: Must remain within ±0.003% of the assigned frequency.
  • Maximum e.i.r.p.: Limited to +55 dBW per RF channel.
  • Spectral Efficiency: Minimum 4.4 bits/s/Hz in moderately and highly congested areas and 3.0 bits/s/Hz elsewhere.
  • Antenna Requirements: Specifies radiation pattern limits to reduce interference between radio systems.

The standard also encourages Co-Channel Dual Polarization (CCDP) to improve capacity and provides guidance on antenna positioning to minimise interference from geostationary satellites.
Preference is given to the 10.7–11.075 GHz and 11.2–11.575 GHz sub-bands, while use of the remaining upper sub-bands requires technical justification.
These requirements aim to support efficient spectrum use and reliable operation of fixed radio systems in Canada.
