Canada ISED Launches Consultation on Updated SRSP-512, Issue 2

Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) has released SRSP-512, Issue 2, for public review and comment. This revision sets out the minimum technical requirements for radio systems operating in the 220-222 MHz spectrum band, supporting safe and efficient spectrum use for industries such as public safety, transportation, and utilities. 
Key updates include: 
  • - New PTC Provisions: Addition of channel definitions and parameters to support Positive Train Control and Remote Control Locomotive operations.
  • - International Alignment: Simplification of cross-border coordination requirements through references to updated agreements with the United States.
  • - Editorial Improvements: Clearer guidelines, reorganized tables, and updates for better usability.

Comments are due no later than Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
