Indonesia Eyes Broader Telecom Compliance Mandate

The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kementerian Komunikasi dan Digital) has released a draft decree that establishes a mandatory list of telecommunication tools and other devices with telecommunication features that must comply with Indonesian technical standards and undergo certification. 

This aims to implement the provisions of Article 33 of Minister of Communication and Informatics Regulation Number 3 of 2024 concerning the Certification of Telecommunication Equipment and/or Telecommunication Equipment and in the context of supervision of Telecommunication Equipment and/or Telecommunication Equipment, the Ministry of Communication and Digital has prepared a Draft Decree of the Minister of Communication and Digital concerning the List of Telecommunication Equipment and/or Telecommunication Equipment that Must Meet Technical Standards.

 

The draft covers:

1. Determination of a list of telecommunication devices and/or telecommunication devices, including other tools and/or devices that have telecommunication features, which must meet technical standards.

2. The list of telecommunication devices and/or telecommunication devices and other tools and/or devices that have telecommunication features is prepared based on the harmonized system code in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations.

3. The inclusion of the harmonized system code in this Ministerial Decree is an administrative instrument of supervision and is not a reference in the determination of the harmonized system code for the type of goods in the customs settlement process.

4. In the event that there are telecommunication devices and/or telecommunication devices and other tools and/or devices that have telecommunication features that are not yet listed in the Attachment to this Ministerial Decree, they are still required to meet technical standards; and

5. This Draft Ministerial Decree comes into effect 30 (thirty) calendar days from the date it is determined.

 

Responses or inputs can be submitted to the Directorate General of Digital Infrastructure of the Ministry of Communication and Digital, addresses no later than July 20, 2025
