Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) issued Notice 2025-DRS0006 regarding the adoption of ETSI EN 301 893 V2.2.1 (2024-11) for Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) testing of 5 GHz Wireless Access Systems and Radio Local Area Network equipment. The consultation opened on September 10, 2025, and closed on November 19, 2025.

A six-month transition period allowed manufacturers to demonstrate compliance using either ETSI EN 301 893 V1.8.1 or the newer V2.2.1 standard. Following the transition, new certifications using the ETSI procedure must comply with V2.2.1. The ETSI procedure is particularly important for equipment operating in the 5600–5650 MHz band, where it is the only accepted DFS testing method in Canada.
