In a recent article, Eleos noted that Kenya was among African countries exempting SRD from Type Approval, a policy established with the publication of the 'Guidelines on the Use of Radiofrequency Spectrum by Short-Range Devices' by the Communications Authority (CA) in 2016 and updated in 2022. However, reliable sources have informed us this week that the regulator has reversed this exemption policy outlined in the guidelines. Instead of issuing simple exemption letters on a voluntary basis to device applicants, the CA will now require Type Approval Certificates for SRD.
While the CA has yet to officially publish this change in their SRD approval guidelines, Eleos is already equipped to assist in obtaining Type Approval certificates for your SRD in Kenya. Please reach out if you have any questions
