Lebanon Transfers Type Approval Services from MoT to TRA

19-DEC-25

The Ministry of Telecommunications has officially transitioned responsibility for the type approval of telecommunications and radio equipment to the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority. Under this change, the TRA becomes the single authority responsible for evaluating, approving, and certifying telecom and RF devices prior to their importation and use in Lebanon.
This transfer is designed to streamline approval processes, reduce administrative overlap, and strengthen regulatory consistency. By centralizing type approval within the TRA, Lebanon reinforces its commitment to ensuring that telecom equipment complies with national technical standards, minimizes harmful interference, and protects network integrity.

For manufacturers, importers, and distributors, all new type approval applications and related renewals or modifications are now handled directly through the TRA’s established procedures and platforms.
Existing approvals issued under the previous MoT framework will follow TRA guidance during the transition period.
