The Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA) have published Regulation N˚ 011/R/STD-ICT/RURA/020 of 29/05/2020 governing importation, supply and type approval for electronic communications equipment.

While available on the RURA website, the regulation is yet to be published in the Rwandan gazette. Once published, the regulation will be fully implemented and enforced. At present, there is no official confirmation on the publication date.

The new type approval regulation brings into force mandatory sample requirements for all equipment, with one as-sold sample required from date of implementation of the regulation. A local representative in Rwanda to support the type approval process is now also mandatory.
