USA FCC Moves to Tighten Controls on High-Risk Electronic Equipment

 On 1 July 2026, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr announced proposed measures to close gaps in the current equipment approval system. The FCC says existing restrictions may block finished products from Covered List entities, but similar devices can still enter the market if they are made by another company using risky components. The proposal would address that gap for logic-bearing hardware, increase transparency on e-commerce platforms, and seek wider updates to supply chain, importation, marketing, and self-attestation rules.
