TEC Extends Exemptions for PON Broadband Equipment Under MTCTE Until December 2025

The India Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC), under the Department of Telecommunications, has issued a new notification updating documentation requirements and exemptions for the PON Family of Broadband Equipment under the MTCTE framework. 
Key updates include:
- Protocol Test for Any PON Interface:
 Exemption from submission of test reports has been extended until 31st December 2025.

- Automatic Laser Shut-Down (ALS) / Automatic Power Shut-Down (APSD):
Acceptance of Self-Declaration of Conformity by the applicant or OEM is permitted only until 31st December 2025, in alignment with ITU-T G.664 and IEC 60825 standards.
