The Ministry of Communication and Digital of Indonesia has released a draft Ministerial Decree outlining new technical standards for Land Mobile Radio (LMR) telecommunication devices. The proposal aims to update the current regulations to align with technological advancements.

Key Proposed Technical Requirements

Manufacturers must ensure their devices comply with new requirements for electrical safety, EMC, and radio frequency performance.

Electrical Safety:

LMR devices must meet the safety requirements outlined in one of the following standards (or their latest versions): SNI IEC 60950-1:2016, SNI IEC 62368-1:2014, IEC 60950-1, IEC 62368-1, EN 60950-1, or EN 62368-1.

Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)

LMR devices must comply with EMC emission standards, primarily SNI CISPR 32:2015 (or IEC CISPR 32) and the ETSI EN 301 489 series (-1, -5, -13, -15). This includes limits for radiated emissions from the enclosure and conducted emissions on AC/DC power ports and wired network ports.

 Radio Frequency (RF) Specifications

The draft sets specific limits for operating frequency, channel spacing, bandwidth, and maximum output power.

Scope and Classification of LMR Devices

·        Conventional Radio
·        Trunking Radio
·        Private Mobile Radio (PMR)

The standard also defines different device forms, including Handheld, Mobile, Base/Repeater and Radio Modem
