The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) has released the fifth version of the Class License for Short-Range Devices (SRDs), issued on October 13, 2024. This update replaces the 2021 version and incorporates feedback gathered from stakeholders during a public consultation conducted earlier this year.
Enhanced Technical Requirements
The updated license includes additional frequency bands and greater flexibility in power limits, ensuring compatibility with international standards and enabling the import and use of a broader range of devices.
Support for National Initiatives
This regulatory enhancement contributes to key initiatives such as Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy (2024–2030). It facilitates the adoption of advanced technologies and improves the quality of services available in the country.
Commitment to Progress
Since the introduction of the first Class License for SRDs in 2010, the CRA has periodically updated the framework to adapt to technological advancements. The latest revision underscores the authority's dedication to fostering innovation and maintaining compliance with international radiocommunication standards.
