The Venezuelan telecommunications authority, CONATEL, through the SIGESTEL homologation platform, has updated the validity framework applicable to telecommunications equipment type approval certificates.

Following direct confirmation received from SIGESTEL support, newly issued type approval certificates will now be granted with indefinite validity, meaning they will no longer include an expiration date.

Key transition considerations
  • Existing certificates issued under the previous framework will remain valid until their indicated expiration date.
  • Once expired, a new homologation application must be submitted through SIGESTEL.
  • New certificates issued under the current framework will be granted with indefinite validity, removing the need for future renewals under this concept.

Given the recent regulatory and operational changes in Venezuela, stakeholders are encouraged to verify current requirements for ongoing and upcoming market access projects.

Renewals, however, will be processed under the new requirements introduced by Resolution 2/2026, while all new applications already follow the updated regulatory framework.
